The giant scale AD-1 Skyraider plan set is 1/6 scale and consists of four large sheets that clearly illustrate all structure as well as showing installation of flaps and retracts. The AD-1 Skyraider plan shows the installation of Robart retracts, fixed wire gear, servos and Zenoah G-62 engine and features three piece wing. The basic structures use conventional “modeling” tools and materials such as balsa and plywood, and the techniques are straightforward; easily accomplished by anyone with previous model building experience. There are many online building threads at www.rcuniverse.com forums and www.rcscalebuilder.com forums for Nick’s plans. Tech support is also available via email at www.ziroliplans.com or by phone 9:00 to 5:00 Mon – Fri EST 631-467-4765. The plans have a separate instruction guide and building notes on the plans. There is quality landing gear made by other manufacturers such as Sierra Giant Scale or Century Jet. If you choose gear or an engine not shown on the plans you should have them on hand when you start construction to make any changes needed for mounting. Nick Ziroli Plans recommends covering the airframe with1oz fiberglass cloth and ZAP Z-poxy finishing resin. Nick Ziroli designs are equally at home at the local sport flying field or the winner’s circle at prestigious scale events such as Top Gun and the Scale Master’s; you can add as much detail as you like. Nick Ziroli Plans has building and scale accessories available for the AD-1 Skyraider. Over the years, Nick’s designs have gained the enviable reputation for being among the most “flyable” giant scale models available.
*Please note our Laser Part Kits only include the parts that are laid out on the original plans, made from balsa and plywood. Wing ribs and fuselage formers are typical parts included with these kits but the amount can vary depending on the quality of the plans. If you would like to know what you are expected to receive, we recommend ordering the plans before making a decision on your kit. The majority of our kits don’t include the plans unless specifically stated. Laser Parts Kits will also require additional materials not supplied by LCKA. Some of these items are sheeting, spars, stringers, hardwood blocks, cowls, canopies, electronics and engine. If there is something else you’re not too sure of, please contact us before purchase.
